"Rahiman Pani Raakhiya Bin Pani Sab Soon” ......Rahim Das
Water is the most precious gift of Providence. But water is not available in abundance everywhere. In vast areas of our country there is acute shortage of water. The surface sources of water need rigorous tre atment and water is to be transported over long distances through pumping, making it too costly and even prohibitive in a good number of cases.
With ever increasing population and demand of water, there has been over exploitation of ground sources resulting in steep fall in the water table.
It is said that wars will be fought over possession of water sources in future. Hence prudent management of water is essential for human survival. The history of the u.p Jal Nigam, as the Pioneer Environmental Engineering Organisation dealing with formulation, design, execution, maintenance and promotion of water supply and sewerage facilities may be traced back to well over a century.
A short resume of some of the major water supply projects executed during the recent years is given below as it is not possible to encompass all such works in a document of this sort.
