The U.P. Jal Nigam is a Public Sector Undertaking of the Government of U.P. and has the largest work force of eminent environmental engineers in Asia, There are about 1100 civil engineers and 100 mechanical engineers of whom many are post graduate and Ph.D.  About 3000 diploma engineers man the field operations of the Nigam.
          The U.P. Jal Nigam is the apex body responsible for formulation, execution, promotion, financing, fixing tariffs etc., for implementation of water supply, sewerage, sewage treatment and disposal, river pollution abatement projects etc., including fixing State Standards for water supply and sewerage services.

          Our engineers constantly strive to achieve optimization by adopting state of the art technology for finding least cost solution of problems and efficient performance to serve the country in their own humble way.
          We lay great emphasis on updating our engineers with latest technological advances by providing systematic training through planned courses in our Training Centre at Lucknow which is equipped with modern training aids and educative materials and literature.
          We are equipped with Electronic Data Processing (E.D.P.) cell.  Our engineers have developed very powerful software for designing the efficient Piped Water Supply System which gives optimum design of staging of overhead reservoirs coupled with economic size of pumping mains and distribution network.  Our engineers have also developed softwares for structural designs.
